[VIDEO] MUST WATCH: 'SAY SOMETHING' COVER BY: RYAN WIRTZ (PREPARE TO FALL IN LOVE)

[SMART-PHONE FRIENDLY]

I personally hate most male vocalists (and nearly all covers of insanely successful songs), until I heard this version of the worldwide smash, "Say Something" by A Great Big World with Christina Aguilera (She is the sole reason the song is where it is today, all arguments against are automatically invalid, and you will deal with her duet listing.).

After learning to believe in not only yourself, you learn to believe in others, and this guy really stands a chance of making it big. After all, this cover stands out among the rest.

That's all there is to say, needs to be said.

Thank you,

Joel (candidly cameo post)

P.S. You bitches better see me when I go to the New Orleans Jazz Festival to see X. xxxo

[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA VS. MARIAH CAREY: WHO IS THE BETTER SINGER?

When it comes to music competitions, The Voice’s Christina Aguilera — who is currently preparing for her third season on NBC's hit show — can easily claim seniority. But does she reign supreme as the queen of pop music?

Newly appointed American Idol judge Mariah Carey certainly gives Xtina a run for her money, but is she a better singer? She might have 10 years' experience on Christina, but their accolades are quite similar — Mimi has five Grammys to Christina’s four five, and both ladies have a slew of No. 1 hit singles.

Our girl Christina knows how to belt out the powerful notes, but Mariah has one of the widest ranges in vocal history. Both ladies clearly know how to break it down on impressive pop ballads, as evidenced by the videos below.

Check out these examples of the reality judges’ most impressive songs and tell us which singer has the better voice!

[NEWS] TONY LUCCA MAKES AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING CHRISTINA'S CRITICISMS

On last week's performance episode of "The Voice," there was some major tension between contestant Tony Lucca and his former "Mickey Mouse Club" co-star, Christina Aguilera. She wasn't particularly pleased that Lucca's famous friends like Justin Timberlake were tweeting their support for him, because she felt that there were stronger voices in the competition. It was an awkward moment, to say the least.

Zap2it had the chance to chat with Lucca last week, so we had to ask him about Aguilera's criticism, which some fans found harsh.

Lucca admits that having people like Timberlake in his corner did put him at an advantage -- but that doesn't necessarily mean the advantage is unfair.
"These are my friends, and certainly it's just them trying to support their friend," he says. "Yeah, the repercussions are sizeable."
He accepts her constructive criticism gracefully.
"I think she's really well-spoken on the show, and quite honestly, probably one of the most intelligent on the subject of vocals and singing and stage production and stuff. I take it all in stride and I value her opinion tremendously."
As for any perceived trouble in M-I-C-K-E-Y-because-we-like-you paradise, Lucca shrugs it off.
"A lot of people have kind of questioned [Christina's] tone, and maybe that's where the awkwardness came in, but I'm inspired by it, it's fine," he laughs. "I mean, obviously there's some social media fall-out and everybody kind of wants to talk about this rivalry that continues, but it's not my place to speculate. It happened and we're moving on."

[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA'S VOCAL PROFILE

Christina Aguilera
Vocal Type: Mezzo- Soprano
Vocal Range: 4 octaves. C3- C7
Whistle Register:Yes
Longest Note: 20 seconds - 'At last' (live)
Vocal Pluses: Christina Aguilera has a very nimble and dexterous voice that allows for incredible vocal runs and for her to able to jump between the different parts of her range with ease. Also has the stamina to hold notes for extended periods of time, with or without vibrato.

The midrange is heavy and thick- more so in recent years- and it is where the voice is most comfortable. The texture of her voice, particularly her belted notes, is unique with a coarse, throaty edge to it when sung without mixing. This texture can be eliminated, producing a smoother tone, when the voice is mixed effectively but the sound produced is lighter and less resonate. The head voice can be either bright and piercing or delicate and airy, depending on what is called for artistically.

Vocal Negatives: The higher, coarser chest notes- above a C5- tends to be forced, pulled and unhealthy. Though it should be noted many fans cite the sound produced as a plus to her voice, despite it being achieved via questionable vocal means. Although able to sing in the whistle register the notes produced tend be labored and require a vocal run to access.

[VIDEO] CEE LO GREEN REVEALS HE'D TRADE PLACES WITH CHRISTINA TO FEEL HOW SHE SINGS

WALTER SCOTT ASKS...Cee Lo Green

The musician and star of The Voice, 37, is in the running in three categories, including Best Pop Vocal Album, at Sunday’s Grammy Awards (CBS, 8 p.m. ET).

Who are your fashion influences?
I’m inspired by Kiss, Alice Cooper, Sly Stone, and Elton John—people who have great showmanship. I just like to shake things up and breathe some fresh air back into music.
Who’s your biggest competition on The Voice this season?
I don’t really look at my fellow coaches as competition because we’re all completely different. I’d love to trade places with Christina [Aguilera] to see what it feels like to sing as brilliantly as she does. Blake [Shelton] is down-to-earth, charming, witty, charismatic. I’ve grown very fond of him. And Adam [Levine] and I are friends, too. He’s just supercool.
What is your Twitter philosophy?
Sometimes less is more! I make sure that it’s significant and filled with a sense of humor. I’m a people person, so it comes easily to me. It’s my passion.

[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA SHARES HER THOUGHTS ON THE LATE AND GREAT, ETTA JAMES

My thoughts on Etta James...
JANUARY 20, 2012, 5:59 pm

Etta James was a force to be reckoned with. A true gift to music and a woman of great spirit and courage.

Her raw tone and the passion she put forth on a record spoke to me at a very young age and has continued to influence and inspire me throughout my career. She will NEVER be forgotten, her voice will forever live on and she will inspire talent for generations to come.

[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA MAKES THE TOP 10 WHITE SINGERS WE ONCE THOUGHT WERE BLACK

Christina Aguilera

LOVE her. Maybe songs like “Genie in a Bottle” didn’t have you thinking her melanin count was up, but for years, I’ve heard older people who’ve heard her sing say they thought she was a black woman. To many, she has the compelling voice of a modern day soul singer who just happens to not “look” like one. Stepping out from the teeny-bopper pack with their rail thin voices, Aguilera’s pipes have acquired her a lot of love and recognition. She was ranked number 58 on the 100 Best Singer’s of All Time list by Rolling Stone, making her the youngest singer on the list.

The full top 10:
1. Bobby Caldwell
2. Lisa Stansfield
3. Robin Thicke
4. Joss Stone
5. Christina Aguilera
6. Michael McDonald
7. Yukimi Nagano
8. Jack Sheldon
9. Nikka Costa
10. Teena Marie

[NEWS] CONFIRMED: CHRISTINA AGUILERA IS PERFECTING HER VOICE FOR HER NEW ALBUM

Sent Email:
Dear Mr.Riggs, I am a huge Christina Aguilera fan, and have recently heard of rumors that she is one of your clients. I would just like for you to confirm this so that we as fans can gain clarity on the issue! Thank you for your time.
Reply:
Good day Christina Fan

Yes I do confirm that Christina is currently one of my clients. We are working on her clarity, methods of projections, resonance, and incorporating my "speech level singing technique" into her overall technique, which I am sure will lead to the expansion of her overall range.

Thank you
Seth
Seth has worked with Anita Baker, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cher, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, etc.

Speech Level Singing (SLS) makes singing as natural and easy as speaking. Used by more than 120 Grammy winners and developed by Seth Riggs, legendary vocal coach to the stars, SLS produces an effortless, powerful and expressive voice.

Description:
Basically, if the larynx stays down and the vocal cords stay together from the very bottom of the vocal range to the very top everything is fine. This also applies to all vowel and consonant combinations through out any phrase. If at any point the larynx jumps up or down or the tone becomes breathy then there is something wrong with the vocal process.

The larynx is the big bump in the middle of the neck just below the chin. This houses the vocal cords and controls the process of swallowing. When the larynx moves up, the muscles around the cords act as a sphincter and closes so as to prevent swallowing down the windpipe and into the lungs. This is a very important process when you need to swallow, but it is a very poor process when you are trying to sing. If you place your hand on your larynx and yawn, you will find that you can bring your larynx down as well. This is a good way to learn what it feels like to have the larynx stay down. The end goal here is to be able to keep the larynx from moving down as well as up. It should stay completely still as you ascend and descend.

The vocal cords, also known as vocal folds, are a pair of soft tissue cords that are joined at the front of the larynx and extend back. When they close, the back end of the cords come together (adduct), and the flow of air is temporarily stopped. When the pressure of air from the diaphragm overcomes the pressure of the muscles holding the cords together, they are blown apart and sound is made when they close again due to the resonation created. Then once again the air pressure overcomes the muscle pressure and the process begins again. If a singer is singing an A above middle C, this process happens 440 times every second. The pitch A above middle C vibrates 440 times per second. That is very fast and it is somewhat difficult to see this process happen even if you can see down the singer’s throat. Since the invention of the strobescopy it has become easier to view the vocal cord resonation process. If the vocal cords begin to come apart, the tone becomes breathy and the muscles around the outside of the larynx begin to tense. This becomes what is called a constricted phonation and is quite harmful for the voice.

This is a very brief and condensed version of what happens when you sing, there is obviously a lot more going on. But, to give you an idea of what is correct, take these two ideas and while you are singing, monitor them. See if you can keep your larynx still and your cords together. You will probably find that there is a certain area of your voice that is easy for you to accomplish this and certain points of your voice that are more difficult. These harder areas are called bridges, The key to Speech Level Singing is in understanding the bridges and the mix. Bridges in the voice are passage areas from one part of our vocal range to another. In Italian, they're called passagi - or maybe you've heard the term passagio. These passage areas are a result of vocal cord adjustments that must take place in order for us to sing high and low in our range. These vocal cord adjustments produce resonance shifts in our body.

Our first shift in resonance, or our first bridge, is our most crucial, because this is where our outer muscles are most likely to enter the picture. If they do, they tighten around the larynx in an effort to stretch the cords for the desired pitch.
