[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA PROVIDES INSPIRATION TO AIRMAN REBECCA HENNEN

This is the first in a series for Women's History Month, highlighting Airmen who go above and beyond in male-dominated career fields.

Being in a male-dominated career field may seem intimidating or even be tough at times, but for Staff Sgt. Rebecca Hennen, that doesn't hold her back.

As a 60th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician team lead and only one of 50 females in the career field, Hennen said she doesn't let her gender define her.

"It's no secret that men are naturally faster and stronger," Hennen said. "I just push myself that much more, mentally and physically."

Staff Sgt. Matthew Lowe, 60th CES EOD technician, echoed her tenacity.

"It can be very intimidating to be in this career field," he said. "Everyone is very competitive, but Hennen knows how to hold her own with us."

As team lead, Hennen said it's crucial for her to listen to her team and not be strong headed.

"Women exemplify compassion better than men," she said. "It's crucial for me to demonstrate that and listen to my team needs."

Known as adrenaline junkies, Hennen has deployed twice so far, once to Iraq in 2009 and again in 2012 to Saudi Arabia.

"I love deploying," she said. "I really think of our mission as being overseas. It's all about protecting people, property and resources from hazardous devices. That's really when you get the experience."

Lowe said many people don't think of women in the career field because they are out on the front lines.

"It's because we are classified as support and not a combat Airman," he said.
Hennen joined the career field at the age of 21, looking to do something more exciting in her life.

"My brother had just graduated Army boot camp and that really sounded exciting for me," she said. "He convinced me to go into the Air Force, so I met with a recruiter. They were really pulling for people to join the EOD career field then. I loved the idea of blowing stuff up. It was one of the best decisions I've made."

Hennen said she gets her inspiration from pop and R&B singer Christina Aguilera.

"She's true to herself," she said. "She tries new things and helped empower women."

As a woman, Hennen hopes to be like Aguilera.

"I want to be able to empower women who are struggling to find themselves so they can do what they want," Hennen said.

[NEWS] BILLBOARD'S BILL WERDE DISCUSSES CHRISTINA'S COMEBACK CHANCES

On the ATRL fan forum, Bill Werde, editor-in-chief of Billboard Magazine, answered a fan's question regarding whether or not Christina Aguilera's chances at having a successful comeback can happen for her.

A. Originally posted by BWerde: She's obviously supremely talented - arguably the most talented pure singer of the last several generations of pop stars. So there's always the possibility of a comeback. She can also really rise to a moment. Her tribute to James Brown at grammys after he died didn't make sense to me on paper but instantly became one of my personal top 50 pop moments.

I think she's struggling on two fronts. One, there's the ageism thing in pop. I definitely don't agree with it - in fact I think it's completely awful - but it seems that pop only accepts teens and young 20-somethings singing frankly about sexuality. Xtina and Janet are two examples of women on the wrong side of this bias.

I think another dynamic possibly working against her - and this is just what I hear, not what I've seen - is that she hasn't completely endeared herself to some in the business. It takes a village to be successful - promoters, producers, label execs, agents etc. If you end up with a reputation as being difficult or under-appreciative, it doesn't help you when you're in between hits. Those are the times when you most need the best folks in the biz to want to help you.

Again, I've just heard these things second hand. She was nothing but sweet to me in person.

So what does she need to do if she wants to make a comeback? It all begins and ends with the quality and positioning of the songs. Id say party/Club songs but more upbeat/positive. I'd also like to hear a ballad or two that can stand next to Beautiful. Songs about empowerment and overcoming adversity.

Then she needs to work. Endless promo. A run of small Club dates to reconnect and build buzz. Radio promo out the butt. That sort of thing.

I think the most important question at this point - for her or for anyone in her situation - is, does she really want it?

[NEWS] 'LTBL' SHOULD BE CHRISTINA AGUILERA'S NEXT SINGLE (DJs & FANS AGREE)

Since Lotus' release, last November, "Let There Be Love" has been a favorite amongst music lovers and fans alike. Early this year, there was talk about the possibility of "LTBL" being released as the third single off Lotus. But nothing happened. Anywho, months later people are still gravitating to the song.

Now fans and DJs are urging Xtina, the Queen of Music, to take advantage of the songs popularity and release it as an official single.

A close friend to the site and a very hardcore music lover took to Fuse and posted:

Christina Aguilera's Lotus album isn't doing so well. It opened at a not-so-great, not-so-bad No. 7 on the Billboard 200, lead single "Your Body" stalled at No. 34 on the Hot 100 and second single "Just a Fool" with Blake Shelton didn't even get a music video. At this point, most artists would pack up the project and move on to the next one. 

That'd be the case if it weren't for "Let There Be Love," Aguilera's gem on her latest record. Without any official single announcement, the song has risen to No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs, a chart dictated by the weekly songs played by club DJs across the country. 

The Max Martin-produced dance track has all the makings of a hit for today's EDM-obsessed world. It sounds a bit like Usher's Top 5 hit "DJ Got Us Fallin' Love, but it goes a step further showcasing Aguilera's otherworldly vocals.

She's teased live performances of the track with her contestants on The Voice and did a few bars at the 2012 American Music Awards, but no solo performances to date. What are you afraid of Xtina? You could nail a song like this in your sleep! 

Well girl, take it from the DJs (and your friends at Fuse): Release this song. There may just be a second coming for Lotus.
