[NEWS] 'MOVES LIKE JAGGER' MAKES BILLBOARD'S BEST SELLING SINGLES OF ALL-TIME

#68 - 'Moves Like Jagger'

Billboard is celebrating its' 55th anniversary by counting down 100 hits to hit the Hot 100 of all-time. Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's collaboration, 'Moves Like Jagger,' made a monstrous mark worldwide, and put both collaborators back on the map of Pop music.

It was Christina Aguilera's first No. 1 after ten years that also automatically entered her into an exclusive, elite group of artists to have a No. 1 spanning the course of three, consecutive decades.

The music video for 'Moves Like Jagger' has amassed a total of 167,579,714 million views on vevo and youtube alike since its release.*

[NEWS] AN OPEN LETTER TO CHRISTINA AGUILERA, FROM DAVID

Dear Christina,

How I hoped to never have to go public with this, but your reluctance to embrace your true musical identity as represented by a series of misguided and utterly depressing CDs—Bionic anyone?— has really forced me to spill the beans. Let me me offer heartfelt apologies in advance for breaking your confidence and sincerely say, at the risk of sounding didactic, that I am doing this for your own good. You see, with the truth exposed you just might be forced to acknowledge that the bulk of your discography is an act of treason against the great artist you longed to be but are clearly afraid of becoming. Clearly the failure of these albums, a series of increasingly misspent efforts chasing radio trends with exponentially more lackluster results (made worse with each album’s concomitant and public announcement that the new collection “truly reflects your personal growth and authentic self,”) has not chastened you.

While I know it’s fun to be a TV star and spin around in your chair on the The Voice after six hours of hair and make-up, this strikes me as a betrayal of your tremendous early promise. For Stargayzing readers, permit me to tell the story from the beginning, which will make my motives clearer and, at the risk of sounding grandiose, might give you pause to consider that you are, in fact, standing at a creative precipice.

[NEWS] THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER UNVEILS 2013'S REALITY TV HEAT LIST

The $10 Million+ Music Mentor Club

This story first appeared in the April 12 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. The specialized skill of judging talent is not one every megastar can manage, but for those who succeed, the pay is handsome. Just ask Simon Cowell, who pockets north of $35 million a year as judge and co-creator of The X Factor, or radio jock Howard Stern, who brings in a reported $15 million salary for America's Got Talent. It's a good gig for guys who, unlike the other club members, don't have music talent to fall back on.

Mariah Carey, American Idol The diva co-wrote/co-produced dozens of songs from a catalog of 60-plus singles. Album sales: 61.5 million Most recent hit song: Her 2011 collaboration with Justin Bieber on “All I Want for Christmas Is You (SuperFestive!)” Grammys: 5 Ratings impact: Since Carey joined Idol in season 12, the Fox show has seen an 18 percent drop in ratings.

Christina Aguilera, The Voice The former Mickey Mouser-turned-vocal powerhouse sat pretty for three seasons. Album sales: 50 million Most recent hit song: Pitbull’s “Feel This Moment,” featuring her, hit No. 8 in March on Billboard’s Hot 100. Grammys: 5 Ratings impact: Aguilera helped viewership jump in 2010, from 12.3 million in season one to 15.6 million in season two.

Adam Levine, The Voice He’s the full-time frontman for rock-pop band Maroon 5 and an actor/heartthrob. Album sales: 9.5 million Most recent hit song: The platinum-selling “Daylight,” released in November, is No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Grammys: 3 Ratings impact: One of two original coaches, he’s kept a loyal legion of viewers (even while touring!) and hosted SNL.

[NEWS] NEW CHRISTINA AGUILERA BIOGRAPHY COURTESY OF NBC'S 'THE VOICE'

Christina Aguilera serves as coach on "The Voice," NBC's hit reality vocal competition series that searches for the nation's best voice.

Singer, songwriter, performer, producer, director and actress - is there anything Aguilera hasn't done? One of the most accomplished performers of the last decade, she has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, achieved four No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and has won five Grammy Awards, as well as having three top five albums in the United States. She has collaborated with other legendary artists, including Herbie Hancock, Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennett, Sir Elton John and The Rolling Stones. Aguilera was also the only artist under 30 to make Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.

This season, Christina will premiere her much-anticipated single, "Your Body," on "The Voice." In 2011, Aguilera teamed up with fellow "Voice" coach Adam Levine and Maroon 5 to record "Moves Like Jagger." The catchy dance tune went to No. 1 on the Hot 100 charts. In November 2010, she starred in her first feature film "Burlesque," opposite Cher and Stanley Tucci. She earned a Golden Globe nomination for her original song, "Bound to You," which she co-wrote and performed. Earlier that same year, Aguilera launched her album, "Bionic," which featured collaborations from artists such as Sia, Le Tigre and Ladytron as well as producers Tricky Stewart and Hill/Switch.

The New York native's trajectory - from performing in local talent shows in Pennsylvania, where she grew up, to getting her big break on "Star Search" in 1992 to landing a part on the Disney Channel's "The New Mickey Mouse Club" - is well known. It was her song, "Reflection," for Disney's "Mulan," that led to a record deal with RCA and the release of her self-titled debut album in the summer of 1999. The album quickly hit No. 1 on the strength of its first dance/pop single, "Genie in a Bottle" (which dominated the charts for five weeks and broke records worldwide) and other chart toppers including "What a Girl Wants" and "Come on Over." It was a feat she would repeat the following year with "Mi Reflejo," the smash Spanish-language version of her debut, followed by her hit holiday release, "My Kind of Christmas."

In 2001, Aguilera joined forces with Pink, Mya and Lil' Kim on the smash "Lady Marmalade" single and video. That eye-popping slice of eye and ear candy kept her front and center in the international spotlight even as she began to lay the groundwork for her second album, "Stripped." Released in October 2002, it sealed her status as an international superstar while transforming her image from bubble-gum pop princess to steamy sex kitten. Along with the super-heated funk of the album's provocative debut single, "Dirrty," came such standout tracks as "Beautiful," "Can't Hold Us Down" and "Voice Within."

After sweeping the top of the charts with her third album, "Back to Basics," which debuted at No. 1 in August 2006 and sold over 3.7 million worldwide, the unstoppable Aguilera announced a global tour. With the fashion legend Roberto Cavalli as the exclusive costume designer, choreographer and director Jamie King (Madonna, Janet Jackson and Prince) onboard, and a unique stage design that allowed fans unprecedented access to the pop star, the shows were a feast for all senses and earned her rave reviews.

Earning her first of four Grammys in 2000 for Best New Artist, her subsequent trophies came in 2001 for "Lady Marmalade" (Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals), in 2003 for "Beautiful" (Best Female Pop Vocal Performance) and in 2007 for "Ain't No Other Man" (Best Female Pop Vocal Performance), winning a Grammy for each of her albums. Among other honors, she is also the recipient of a 2001 Latin Grammy Award for "Mi Reflejo" (Best Female Pop Vocal Album), a 2000 Billboard Music Award for Female Artist of the Year, and two 2004 Rolling Stone Music Awards (Best Female Performer, Readers' Pick; and Best Tour, Readers' Pick, for "Justified and Stripped").

Voted Sexiest Teen Idol in a VH1 poll, Aguilera's beauty and charisma have also led Teen People to list her among its "25 Hottest Stars Under 25" and Maxim to crown her Best International Female Singer (2000), one of the Sexiest Women of the Year (2003) and No. 1 on their "Hot 100" List (2003). Aguilera has also been honored with two NRJ Awards (Best International Female, Best International Album) as well as a 2007 MTV Europe Award (Best Female Artist).

In 2007, Aguilera introduced an entirely new production - an eponymous perfume named Christina Aguilera, which she launched through P&G Prestige. The fragrance continues to be an international bestseller and has paved the way for four additional scents -"By Night," "Royal Desire," "Secret Potion" and the soon-to-be-released "Red Sin."

In January 2008, Aguilera gave birth to her first child, son Max Liron Bratman. Not one to slow down following the birth, in February the new mom served as the muse behind London jeweler Stephen Webster's new sterling silver collection. Aguilera inspired and was the face of the unconventional collection, posing as a Hitchcock heroine in the ad campaign. The new campaign, shot by famed W magazine photographer Craig McDean, was revealed in Spring 2009. The inspiration for the campaign stems from Webster's glam-rock style and Aguilera's sexy new contemporary look.

Today, while devoting the lion's share of her time to recording and touring, the 31-year-old is active in a range of philanthropy. In 2009, Aguilera joined forces with Yum! Brands in their World Hunger Relief effort, acting as global spokesperson. In less than one year, she has created widespread awareness and deeper engagement to benefit the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and other hunger relief agencies and helped to raise a record breaking 22.5 million in donations. In 2010, she was named an Ambassador to the United Nations for her hard work and outreach. It is an honor only given to a select few.

In addition, Aguilera and her son, Max, appeared in a PSA for "Rock the Vote" encouraging young people to take a stand and vote for what they believe in. The ad, which featured Aguilera singing "America the Beautiful" to Max (who is wrapped in an American flag), was featured in magazines, television spots and billboards in Times Square. A major contributor to the fight against AIDS, Aguilera has participated in the "What's Going On?" cover project for AIDS Project Los Angeles' Artists Against AIDS. In 2004, she became the new face for MAC cosmetic company and spokesperson for the MAC AIDS Fund. Aguilera also became involved in awareness campaigns with Youth AIDS and ALDO. She also sponsors and is actively involved in the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh for battered women and children.

[NEWS] 'MOVES LIKE JAGGER' BREAKS NEW RECORD BETWEEN TWO 'BEST NEW ARTIST' WINNERS & REACHES PLATINUM CERTIFICATION IN THE U.S.A.

Though Mick Jagger hasn't topped the Hot 100 in 33 years, he remains an icon. "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera this week becomes the second #1 hit in less than two years that name-checks the rock legend. The first was Ke$ha's "TiK ToK," which spent the first nine weeks of 2010 at #1.

Both references are highly flattering: Jagger was depicted as a hottie in Ke$ha's song and as a classic mover in the Maroon 5 smash. Even so, I suspect he'd trade the flattery for a hit of his own. Jagger hasn't topped the Hot 100 since August 1978, when the Rolling Stones scored with their dance/rock blend, "Miss You." That was the band's eighth #1 hit. They scored their first, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," in July 1965.

"Moves Like Jagger" is Maroon 5's second #1 hit, following 2007's "Makes Me Wonder." It's Aguilera's fifth; her first since 2002, when she scored with another collabo, "Lady Marmalade," which she sang with Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink. "Lady Marmalade" was boosted by a movie, Moulin Rouge. "Jagger" owes its popularity to a TV show, NBC's The Voice, on which both singers are judges.

The song is #1 on Hot Digital Songs for the second time in three weeks. It sold 217,000 copies this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, bringing its 10-week total to 1,326,000. It jumps from #15 to #11 on Top Radio Songs, with 72 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS.

Both Maroon 5 and Aguilera won Grammys for Best New Artist (for 2004 and 1999, respectively). This marks the first time that two former Best New Artist winners have collaborated on a Hot 100 hit, much less a #1. If that doesn't get them booked on the Grammy telecast in February, nothing will.

According to Spanish Gay website, Chromosomax, Christina got paid a whopping 2.4 million euros (3.5 million US dollars) to play a 20 minute (4 song) concert at a Billionaires private party this weekend in Barcelona, Spain.

Well it isn't hard to believe that our girl is getting paid as much as she is, but don't you guys think that its funny that people can call her irrelevant when she is the highest paid artist at the moment? Other people are just pressed that their beloved Queens aren't making as much as Christina. [NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA COULD SCORE A SURPRISE TOP-TEN RE-ENTRY

Cheryl Cole is almost certain to hit number one this Sunday and smash records for the fastest selling single of 2009 with Fight For This Love.

Sales figures after one day show the song is selling three times as many copies as its nearest rival- Alexandra Burke’s Bad Boys.

Cheryl’s performance on the X Factor this Sunday will certainly have helped sales with over 12 million people tuning into the ITV show.

Ironically Cole was Alexandra’s mentor on the talent show and they are apparently close friends.
The extent of X Factor’s influence on the charts is seen elsewhere in the Top 10. Whitney Houston looks likely to hit Top 5 despite mixed reviews for her own performance on the programme.

Christina Aguilera could also score a surprise top 10 re-entry with Hurt- after the track was sung by contestant Jamie Archer.
