[NEWS] 'THE VOICE SUPER BOWL COMMERICAL: BEHIND THE SCENES (EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS)

Premiering right after Sunday’s Super Bowl, The Voice already has an amazing lead-in to its Season 2 premiere after the game. But, that didn’t stop NBC from creating a commercial worthy of the big game.

Blake Shelton previewed a snippet of the singing competition's high-flying martial arts-laden Super Bowl commercial on Thursday night’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

"Christina Aguilera beats the crap out of me in this commercial,” Shelton said of the commercial titled “Vokal Kombat.” “And there's fighting and it's karate and it's awesome."

Directed by Friday Night Lights and Battleship director Peter Berg, the commercial is a heightened version of what the coaches engage in during the singing competition: Fighting it out until one of their team members is crowned the winner. In the promo spot, they’ll use martial arts, weapons, and sheer cunning to come out on top.

Berg directed the promo through Pony Show Entertainment, the production company that represents him for commercials. Pony Show also produced Berg’s award-winning Hulu spot for the 2009 Super Bowl, Alec in Hululand, featuring Alec Baldwin.

[NEWS] BLAKE SHELTON PREVIEWS 'THE VOICE' BAD-ASS SUPER BOWL AD (VIDEO)

The Voice returns in just a few days and musician coach Blake Shelton appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno to tout the NBC reality competition series, as well as debut a few seconds from Sunday's Super Bowl ad.

"What's those movies that Quentin Tarantino does?," Shelton asked host Jay Leno when trying to describe the commercial.

"Quentin Tarantino movies?," Leno joked.

Shelton teased that in the ad, musician coach "Christina Aguilera beats the crap out of me in this commercial and there's fighting and it's karate and it's awesome."

And well, he wasn't lying. In addition to Adam Levine and Shelton duking it out karate-style with Shelton punching the Maroon 5 frontman in the face and Levine kicking Shelton across the room.

"Never seen Christina look better," Leno joked after the preview was shown without any of her or Cee Lo Green's footage.
"I get Adam and Christina mixed up," Shelton joked.

The Voice returns after the Super Bowl on Sunday.

[NEWS] 'THE VOICE' GETS SUPER BOWL AD FROM 'FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS' DIRECTOR

You probably guessed NBC would promote The Voice during its Super Bowl coverage, but not like this: The network is going big with a special The Voice Super Bowl ad from Friday Night Lights and Battleship director Peter Berg.

The 60-second ad is titled “Vokal Kombat” and plays off an element of The Voice that’s unique to the NBC singing competition: The judges’ swivel chairs that turn to face a contestant during the auditions when a judge hears a performer they believe is deserving of a spot on the show.

Of course, if more than one judge turns around to face the stage, they must compete against each other as they try to win over the contestant to their team. The ad takes this rivalry to new heights, with Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Cee Lo Green employing martial arts, weapons, and dirty tricks to win the battle royale.

The ad will make its debut during NBC’s presentation of the big game on Feb. 5, which is followed by the second season premiere of The Voice. A 30-second commercial in the Super Bowl costs an advertiser around $3 million, but NBC can air The Voice spot as a promo.

[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA OPEN TO SINGING AT THE SUPER BOWL

Christina Aguilera is set to follow the Super Bowl this year with the Season 2 premiere of her show, “The Voice,” but she told Access Hollywood she’d be open to singing at the big game too.

“I’m open. Hey, I’m up for any challenge, any time any day,”

“Damn right,” Christina’s fellow “Voice” judge Blake Shelton chimed in, referring to himself. “You’re damn right I will… I’ll sing one of Christina’s song at the Super Bowl.

”‘Hey sister, soul sister…,’” he jokingly sang.

Christina, Blake, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green are all back as coaches for Season 2 of NBC’s reality singing competition, “The Voice,” and the superstar singer said coming back for another round was an easy sell.

“I had to come back and do a second [season]. How could I not?” she asked. “This is the most exciting show – ever! The suspense value? It’s intense… I think I get more nervous in these blind auditions than the actual artists and vocalists that come up here to audition. It’s nerve wracking and exciting.”

The early phases of “The Voice” auditions are currently going on in Los Angeles and Christina said the talent that has come through has been of a different caliber.

“It’s amazing to realize the fact that the bar has been raised so high this year and we’ve actually become more critical because of it… There’s not one singer that isn’t good or great that comes through here,” she said. “So we’re extra critical and we’re all looking for something so unique and so different.”

Christina had a host of powerfully voiced women on her squad in Season 1, and this time around she’s got a more diverse roster, so far.

“I have everyone from an opera singer to an MC,” she said. “It’s amazing and then, of course, I have my powerhouse, crazy, soulful vocalists that blow you away. It’s an exciting year for diversity.”

Season 2 of “The Voice” premieres on February 5 on NBC, after the Super Bowl.
