Adele, Katy, Christina Aguilera and Florence and the Machine are just some artists who are eligible to receive an Oscar nomination ahead of next year's ceremony.
'Rolling In The Deep' hitmaker Adele sung the soundtrack for the latest James Bond movie 'Skyfall', which was co-written by Adele and Paul Epworth and has been described as one of the best 007 themes in the franchise's 50-year history.
The Academy Motion Pictures will now be whittling down a list of 75 candidates to just five songs from films which have been released this year, and in addition to Adele, Katy Perry is also believed to be a song contender.
Katy's single 'Wide Awake' is reportedly being considered after it featured in the singer's autobiographical movie, 'Part of Me,' which followed the hitmaker as she embarked on her world tour last year.
Florence and The Machine are also in with a chance after the band's song 'Breath Of Life,' featured in blockbuster movie, 'Snow White and the Huntsman,' which starred Kristen Stewart.
Others in the running include Bon Jovi's Not Running Anymore,' Rick Ross' 100 Black Coffins', Arcade Fire's 'Abraham's Daughter' which can be heard in 'The Hunger Games' and Christina Aguilera's title track 'Casa De Mi Padre.'
However, it's Adele's 'Skyfall' which is expected to be the big contender, something which will no doubt be news to Daniel Craig's ears after he admitted to crying when he first the ballad.
"She has the voice and the tone that we wanted. I cried. From the opening bars I knew immediately, then the voice kicked in and it was exactly what I'd wanted. It just got better and better because it fitted the movie. In fact the more of the movie we made, the more it fitted," Daniel, who is the current Bond, told the Daily Star.

[NEWS] HURRICANE SANDY BENEFIT PLANS CAME TOGETHER OVERNIGHT, SAY ORGANIZERS
NBC's Friday night benefit for victims of Hurricane Sandy – set to feature Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi and network stars Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon, Brian Williams and Matt Lauer – came together in a rush of coast-to-coast communications, some challenged by sketchy post-hurricane cell service, throughout the day yesterday, organizers tell Rolling Stone.
Newsman Williams texted Springsteen; Lauer called Bon Jovi; NBC executives reached out to Sting, Joel and Aguilera (who was born on Staten Island). All agreed quickly.
Aguilera was planning to fly from Los Angeles to New York to promote The Voice this week. When she called her manager, Irving Azoff, to ask how she could help Hurricane Sandy victims in some way, he wasn't even sure if she could make it into the city. "She's already talking about 'how can I do something?' and coincidentally we're trying to figure out if she's even going to do her New York trip," Azoff says.
The manager and his team were frantically working on details when Paul Telegdy, NBC's president of alternative late-night programming and specials, called an hour later. "We're going to try to do this telethon," he said. "You think Christina's going to be interested?" Aguilera quickly accepted a singing slot during Friday night's benefit for the American Red Cross, and the post-storm travel plans came together.
